The Taiwan Self-Care Industry Association (TSCIA) was founded on 24 August 2023 by companies across the non-prescription (OTC) medicine, medical device, health food and cosmetics industries.
TSCIA embraces the concept of self-care advocated by the World Health Organization (WHO), integrating self-care practices into the healthcare system and working to develop and introduce sound, innovative self-care products. From individuals and families to communities, we help people promote health, prevent disease, maintain wellbeing and cope with illness and disability — opening new opportunities for the industry, improving public health and quality of life, and helping to fill gaps in the nation’s healthcare resources.
Self-care has become a key direction in global health policy, spanning everyday health management, disease prevention, OTC medicines, medical devices, health foods and cosmetics. Facing rising health needs and limited medical resources, Taiwan needs a platform that connects industry, government, academia and healthcare professionals. TSCIA was established to meet this need — promoting sound industry development, raising public health literacy and aligning Taiwan’s self-care with international standards through policy advocacy, international cooperation, professional exchange and health education.
